Training During Lockdown

If you want to attend Training during Lockdown, you will be requested to complete a Covid Consent Form.

Nail Training:

Students who book a Nail Course, must buy a Habbill Nail Trainer Hand at R599 (normal price R899) to using during Training.

If you purchase an Efile from Planet Nails, you will be Trained how to use it during your Nail Course at no extra charge.

Attend a Course or Workshop?

We offer Courses and Workshops.

A Course includes a more comprehensive Kit and a detailed Manual.

A Workshop includes a basic Starter Kit and basic Instructions.

Bring Along:

Nail Students must bring along to Training:  Roller Towel, Hand Towel, Foam Rest

Wax/Tint Students must bring along to Training:  Roller Towel, Large Bath Towel, Hand Towel, Boobtube, Head Band

Mani/Pedi Students must bring along to Training:  Roller Towel, Hand Towels, Foam Rest

Extra Information:

None of our Courses or Workshops include Gel Lamps.  This is because Students want to choose what size Lamp they buy.

They are needed for Gel and Special Courses.  And Gel Polish, Gel Sculpture, Iconic and Naila Workshops.

Overlays:  Product gets applied on natural nails, without making them longer.

Tip Overlays:  Tips gets applied to make the nails longer, product gets applied over it.

Sculpture:  Sculpture is done when nails are built without using Tips.  Most experienced nail techs specialise in Sculptured nails.

Acrylic Dip Course includes Overlays (on natural nails) and Tip Overlays (making nails longer).

Acrylic, Gel and Special Courses include Overlays (on natural nails), Tip Overlays (making nails longer) and can include Sculpture (building nails).

The Gel Polish Workshop includes Overlays (on natural nails).

Acrylic Dip:  Basic Course, recommended for beginners.  Quick and easy to do.  No Acrylic Brush is used, as this is a Dip method.

Acrylic:  Advanced Course, recommended if you want to do nails professionally.  You need a lot of skill and practice to perfect this method.

Gel:  Advanced Course, recommended if you want to do nails professionally.

Special:  Includes Gel, Acrylic, Acrylic Dip, Gel Polish.

Gel and Acrylic can be done with or without Sculpture.

Manicure/Pedicure:  Does not include Artificial nails.  It is only the neatening of natural nails on the hands and feet.

Waxing/Tinting:  We offer this Course with and without Intimate Waxing.  Our Wax/Tint Course does not include a Wax Warmer.

Make-Up:  We use Kryolan Make-Up and offer a Professional Course.  We include contouring, concealing and corrective procedures.

Revolution Workshop:  A different way to do Acrylic nails and encapsulate Art.  You must know how to do Acrylic before you can attend this Workshop.

Electric File Workshop:  Using an Electric File cuts down on filing time.  You must do Gel or Acrylic before you can attend this Workshop.

Bring along all your Gel and/or Acrylic products to use during this Workshop.

Iconic Workshop:  Combination of Gel and Acrylic.  Applies like Acrylic but needs a Lamp to cure (harden) the product.

You must do Gel or Acrylic before you can attend this Workshop.

Gel Polish Workshop:  Recommended for use on natural nails.  It can also be used over Gel or Acrylic.

Gel Sculpture Workshop:  You must know how to do Gel before you can attend this Workshop.

Acylic Sculpture Workshop:  You must know how to do Acrylic before you can attend this Workshop.

Dipping Tray Workshop:  You must know how to do Acrylic Dip before you can attend this Workshop.

Student must bring along and use Planet Nails Acrylic Powders, Dipping Tray and Resin Gel during this Workshop.

How to Book a Course:

Registration Forms have all the information you need about our Training.

Confirm Course Date and Venue.  Complete a Registration Form.

Return completed Registration Form + proof of payment to us.

Request a copy of completed Registration Form, you need it to book for Exams.

When paying for Training, please request a receipt as proof of payment.

During Training:

Do not arrange to do other things during your confirmed Training Dates.

Do not book Training if you have dentist / doctor or any other appointments.

Training must be attended in Full.  Training is from 9am - 4pm on weekdays.

You need live models during the Training.  Info provided on Registration Form.

We do offer Training on Saturdays, but it takes longer and it costs more.

Student Support Group:

Students must join the Student Support WhatsApp Group.  Details on Registration Form.

Educators on the Group are ready to assist Students with questions they might have.

After Training:

After you attend Training, you have to complete 50 Practical Hours per system.

You must note your Practical Hours on a Portfolio of Evidence.

The Educator will provide a POE (Portfolio of Evidence), use it to record Practical Hours done.

You must also complete a Colour Portfolio of your work done.

All Portfolios gets handed in on the day of your Exam.  It does not get returned to you.

No POE's - No Exam.  More information is provided on the Registration Form about POE's.

Exams:

When you completed a Colour Portfolio and your Practical Hours, you can book for your Exam.

The POE and Colour POE is part of your Exam.

When you do a Course, you have a Theory and Practical Exam.  If you are competent, a Certificate of Achievement will be issued.

When you do a Workshop, you only have a Practical Exam.  If you are competent, a Certificate of Attendance will be issued.

We have 4 Exam Dates per year.  January, April, July and October.

Exam Venue may differ from Training Venue, and will be confirmed when you book for your Exam.

The Exam Fees are R550 per system if attended within 12 months of completion of the Training.

The pass rate for Exams are 80% to receive a Certificate.

Certificates takes 4 weeks to issue.

Important Safety and Hygiene Protocol for Trainers, Students and Models (During Training and Exams):

Use an alcohol-based hand Sanitizer frequently.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Stay at home if you are sick.

Keep a distance of 1.5 meters from other people at all times.

Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces with an alcohol-based Sanitizer frequently.

Wear a Mask at all times.  Your nose and mouth must be covered.

Trainers who are sick, will not be allowed to Train.

Students who are sick, will not be allowed to Train.
